The township of Carisbrook is situated in Central Victoria Australia, (first surveyed for a township in 1851 by William Swan Urqhuart).
With around 800 residents it sits about 7km from Maryborough on the Pyrenees Hwy.
The peaceful little town of Carisbrook has a wonderful community full of compassionate and caring individuals who often put their neighbour's needs first; those who have raised their families here, and those born here now raising their own families, and those who came to work in the area bringing their families and then those who have chosen to move here.
It is a township and community with a history and a future and all who live here believe it is a wonderful place to live with a lot to offer.
Up the Creek and Back Again
It has been a long time in the making but finally it is here.
The Flood Book. The history of the event of January 2011 and its aftermath.
The stories of the people herein are real…. Real people in a real place experiencing what no one should have to experience. It’s their stories and how they have reacted to what life has thrown their way.
About Our Organization
Carisbrook people know what's best for Carisbrook and they deserve to be able to have a go at doing what is required to make Carisbrook the very best place in Victoria, and so from the adversity of a major flood on January 14th 2011 an organisation was formed to help individuals and families to recover and rebuild. Carisbrook Disaster Recovery Committee Inc. has a finite life with specific purpose. However, from this base an idea emerged that became "Pigs Might Fly" and has now been developed into this organisation: Carisbrook Projects Inc..
The Projects
On July 22nd 2012, in the heart of Carisbrook at the Recreation Reserve, over 100 Carisbrook people gathered over lunch and began the process of change that will see great improvements, within the community, for the community and by the community. This process, although lengthy, resolved in the selection of 6 major and several minor projects.
